朱古力瘤的復發率很高。現代醫學認為巧克力囊腫的形成，與骨盆腔的免疫功能、骨盆腔的細胞生化不完全、經期不正常等因素有關，中醫則認為先天體質佔了很大的因素，因此建議患者在手術後接受中藥和針灸的調理，改善體質，有助降低復發的風險。免疫力低的人易罹患子宮內膜異位症，所以提高免疫力，有助於預防朱古力瘤。
